An additional billion from the “Digital Infrastructure” special fund is to flow into the expansion of gigabit networks in Germany. As is well known, it still looks poor in parts, especially in the countryside. The billion should therefore migrate to support the expansion in the coming budget years and will increase the budget from 3.18 billion euros to 4.18 billion euros.
The reason given by the German Bundestag is the high demand for gigabit funding. The increasing spread of fiber optics should also play a role here. The due dates of the commitment authorization were also adjusted to the progress of the project and the outflow of funds, see above an up-to-date memo on the subject.
No other changes were made to the economic plan.
