God of War Ragnarök has set sales records for PlayStation

God of War Ragnarök is, perhaps not unexpectedly, a great success. During the game’s first week, 5.1 million copies were ripped off both physical and digital store shelves, Sony reports.

The sequel to God of War 2016 is thus the fastest-selling game from a PlayStation studio ever. This was confirmed by PlayStation boss Hermen Hulst in a message on Twitter.

The article continues below.

The game takes the throne from The Last of Us Part II, which reached four million in its first three days in June 2020. The original God of War also sold 3.1 million copies in the three days after the game’s launch.

Our own Espen Jansen was among several who got carried away by the latest adventure about Kratos and his son Atreus. In his review, he boasted of both the story and the combat system, and an overall tension that lasts from start to finish.

– Kratos simply feels more powerful than he ever has before. Admittedly, the scale and rawness never quite reach what I still consider to be the best game in the series, God of War III, but at the same time the characters have just as much drive, the story flows just as well and the journey is all the more extensive. And then it would be good not to get excited, was the conclusion.

Admittedly, God of War can’t keep up with Pokemon.
