Chromecast with Google TV and remote has gained a cheaper version for streaming Full HD videos. Originally, Chromecast with Google TV has the ability to play in 4K resolution, however it costs US$49, which is considered expensive in many countries.
Google announced “Chromecast with Google TV (HD)” on September 22, 2022. Despite “HD”, the HDMI dongle is capable of playing 1080p resolution videos with HDR.
Google launches affordable Chromecast with Full HD and HDR resolution for older TVs
The new Chromecast with Google TV (HD) supports over 10,000 apps available through Google TV. Among them, we have apps like, for example, Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Star+, Amazon Prime Video, among others.
The remote that comes with Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is similar to the version that supports 4K. It has buttons in a circular shape with the functions of back, Home, Power, TV input and Google Assistant. In addition, we have buttons to control the volume on the side of the controller. There are also unique buttons to open Netflix and YouTube.
By pressing the Google Assistant button, the user can search for series, movies or any video through their voice. Another interesting point of the device is the possibility of using it to control smart appliances, which are connected to the internet, being able to turn on/off the lights or activate the transmission of the Google Nest security camera to the TV.
Thanks to Google TV, the new Chromecast (HD) with remote control has the same features available in the 4K version, such as a suggested content tab called “for you”, the library tab for purchases or rentals of series and movies and a watch list that can be synced to other devices.
