Organized under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the new periodic Government – Walis meeting will be held on Saturday and Sunday in Algiers under the theme of “promoting the national economy and local development”.
The Government-Walis meeting will make it possible to draw up a balance sheet of achievements to assess the action of the Government and remedy shortcomings and imperfections. And this, in order to achieve the objectives set within the framework of the implementation of new rules of governance.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Regional Planning, this new Government-Walis meeting will discuss three main areas. Indeed, it is about the role of the wali in local economic development, the new legal framework for promoting the investment climate as well as the reform of local finance and taxation.
In the same vein, it should be recalled that the last Government-Walis meeting, held on September 25 and 26, 2021, formulated a series of recommendations under the theme of “economic recovery, regional balance, social justice”.
Thus, the recommendations had in particular advocated the strengthening of the attractiveness of investment through the exploitation of the resources of the different regions of the country. But also, a balanced territorial development, an integrated, coherent and sustainable development, and this, within the framework of a national strategy.
Tebboune operates a vast movement in the body of walis and a ministerial reshuffle
As a reminder, on September 14, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, had operated a vast movement in the body of walis and walis delegates.
According to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic, this movement put an end to the functions of sixteen walis and three delegated walis. The movement made by President Tebboune also included the transfer of ten walis and one delegate wali as well as the appointment of sixteen new walis and four new delegate walis.
In addition, the new Government – walis meeting comes shortly after the partial reshuffle of the Government carried out by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on September 8th. The ministerial reshuffle affected six different sectors, namely, Health, Interior, Transport, Higher Education, Pharmaceutical Industry and Public Works.
