Bludenz. There is great joy on World Children’s Day at the elementary school in Bludenz Mitte. The excavators started rolling and the long-awaited groundbreaking ceremony for the structural expansion took place.
In order to create more space and freedom for the approximately 300 Bludenz students and around 30 teachers, the school building is now being expanded in its previous form.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of the Mitte elementary school was celebrated together with the Vice President of the State Parliament, Monika Vornier, Mayor Simon Tschann, architect Bernhard Marte, elementary school director Manuela Schmidle, the pupils of the elementary school in Mitte and an ensemble from the municipal music school in Bludenz. With a construction sum of around 22 million euros, the conversion of the middle school represents the largest building construction project in the city of Bludenz. We invest in space for education and give the Bludenz elementary school students a stimulating and contemporary learning environment,” says Mayor Simon Tschann happily.
The characteristic school building of the elementary school in Mitte with the picturesque Plettenberg Park is considered one of the most expressive buildings in the city. Young Bludenzers have been taught in the building since 1886. Now it is bursting at the seams and has reached its capacity limit.

The currently L-shaped wing will be expanded by its shape.
