GTA 6 leak: 17-year-old boy arrested and in the hands of British police

The Grand Theft Auto VI leak case has rocked the gaming industry this week. Links between the Lapsus$ hacker group and a recent attack targeting the Uber group have been made and the FBI investigation has made significant progress since a young British man has just been arrested this afternoon.

17-year-old arrested by British police

At the start of the year, the Lapsus$ group targeted several major companies such as Nvidia, Samsung and Microsoft. A 16-year-old British boy suspected of being one of the heads of this network would have amassed by less than 14 million dollars. He was interviewed by the police and then released.

Earlier this week, links were made between the attack targeting Rockstar Games in the leak case and another attack targeting Uber. The person responsible for these attacks would also be a prominent member of the Lapsus$ group nicknamed “White” or “Breachbase”.

The principal concerned had been arrested earlier in the year following the first attacks and then also released as part of the investigation carried out by the British authorities. The suspicions of the Uber group are not insignificant and the first returns from the FBI investigation seem fruitful. According to sources close to the investigation mentioned by journalist Matthew Keys, a 17-year-old boy affiliated with Lapsus$ has just been arrested by London police in Oxfordshire. Case to follow.
