As it turns out, it appears to be the same person who recently worked for the Hacker attack on Uber was responsible. To determine the identity of the culprit, Uber now even has that FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice contacted in the US. Initial speculations are also circulating.
Hackers should belong to a group
in one blog post Uber mentions that the person responsible for the attacks on the company – and thus also on Rockstar Games – is a member of the group “lapsus$” could act. The hackers have recently made a name for themselves with attacks on technology companies such as Nvidia, Samsung and Microsoft. In March 2022 it became – loud BBC News – a 16 year old arrested in the UK, who appears to have been among the leaders of Lapsus$.
After investigations, the suspects were released. It will probably take some time before we can expect official information on the current cases at Uber and Rockstar Games. In addition, the hacker repeatedly claimed that the Source codes of GTA 5 and GTA 6 be in his possession. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
Rockstar Games confirmed the incident
On Monday, the Rockstar Games team in one statement notified that there has been illegal access to their network. Influence on current live service games and development of GTA 6 (buy now €19.99) shouldn’t have that. Of course, the creators are still disappointed that the first details about their new project have made it onto the Internet in this way.
