The Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, expressed his satisfaction tonight with the meeting he held in Washington with the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva.
“Valuable meeting with the managing director of the IMF @KGeorgieva to advance in solving the unsustainable debt with the organization,” said the minister through his account on the social network Twitter.
“We hope that his leadership will continue to take steps that change the ethos of the IMF, leaving behind that shaped by the global financial power that contributed to a more unequal and insecure world for another that favors a sustainable development of the peoples. We will continue to help this, “added the head of the Palacio de Hacienda.
Guzmán spoke in this way about the meeting he held this afternoon in the US capital with Georgieva, with whom he continued to advance in the renegotiation process of the stand-by program signed in 2018 by the Juntos por el Cambio administration.
Also participating in the meeting were the director for the Southern Cone before the IMF, Sergio Chodos; the deputy director of the Western Hemisphere Department, Julie Kozack; and the head of the mission for Argentina, Luis Cubeddu.
Also on the social network Twitter, tonight the Ministry of Economy stressed that “Argentina continues to negotiate with the IMF to achieve an agreement that is good for the country”, reporting on the meeting that Guzmán had with Georgieva.
“@Martin_M_Guzman met with @KGeorgieva, head of the IMF, an organization that lent the country USD 45,000 million in 2018, a record and unsustainable amount,” said the Palacio de Hacienda in the tweet.
