Heidel speaks about Svensson rumors

At Mainz 05 they are not worried about the departure of coach Bo Svensson. Sports director Christian Heidel makes it clear in the ‘Bild’: “Of course Bo is interesting for other clubs and such rumors will pop up again and again. But first of all, nothing has happened, except that a portal from England knows that he is said to be on some Brighton candidate list. Secondly, Bo also knows what he has in us.” Svensson was traded at Brighton & Hove Albion as the successor to Graham Potter (Chelsea FC). In the meantime, however, Roberto De Zerbi has taken over at the Premier League club.

Svensson was hired by Mainz in early 2021, his contract runs until 2024. Heidel says: “Maybe he won’t stay here forever, just like Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel didn’t stay here forever. But they left Mainz 05 after seven and five years as a professional coach. Because they appreciated that Mainz gave them the chance to develop as a young coach. That was the basis for the many titles they went on to win. There is no better club than Mainz 05.”
