#heiseshow: Revolution in the smart home – why the standard matter affects everyone

Everything gets better with Matter: The smart home standard tears down the virtual barriers between the various manufacturer standards – at least that’s what many hope. For example, while a HomeKit device could not previously be used in the Amazon ecosystem, this will change for many manufacturers in the future.

With the official start in Amsterdam and the first presentations of devices at trade fairs such as the International Consumer Electronics Fair, the future is finally within reach. The first manufacturers have announced their update schedules. Some devices could already be seen in action.

But at the beginning of this new era, many questions arise. What exactly is Matter and when will it catch on? Will legacy devices also benefit from Matter?
