Princess Margaretha has had a tough time in England where the restrictions and closures have been many. Now the princess may suffer another setback.
For 57 years, the king’s eldest sister, Princess Margaretha, has lived in England. She is not the one who is interested in the royal spotlight. In the village where she lives, outside the city of Chipping Norton, about ten miles from London, only her closest neighbors know that she is a Swedish princess.
Princess Margaretha lives during the pandemic in England
Although she likes to keep a low profile, it has reached a new level during the pandemic as England has been one of the hardest hit countries.
– Margaretha lives in “splendid isolation” in her British little village, and her sons Ed and James are very cute and help her with things that are needed, one of her acquaintances told Swedish Lady this spring.
About a month ago, most of the restrictions in the country were lifted and much has gradually been able to return to normal. The British have been at the forefront of restrictions, so Princess Margaretha is probably one of those who are fully vaccinated.
The new virus variant could affect Princess Margaretha
But now it is possible that the country, and other parts of the world, will be hit by another setback. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the virus has developed a number of different variants, and now a new one has been discovered, which contributes to the spread of infection again, and that there is a risk of a new wave.
– In many countries where they have come even further in vaccination than Sweden, they have still seen a sharp increase in infection in recent times. Among other things, I am thinking of Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States, says Tove Fall, professor of molecular epidemiology at Uppsala University to SVT News.
Princess Margaretha – not been to Sweden since 2018
According to Läkartidningen the new virus variant can also infect those who are fully vaccinated. And British i news believes that if the spread of infection increases so much that care becomes overcrowded, new restrictions can be introduced.
This would mean that Princess Margaretha has to wait further before she can be reunited with her family. The last time we saw her was when Princess Madeleine baptized her youngest daughter Adrienne in the Castle Church on Drottningholm in June 2018.
