INDES presents a project to improve the Palacio de los Deportes Carlos «Famoso» Hernández

The honorary president of the National Institute of Sports of El Salvador (INDES), Yamil Bukele, presented this day, through his social networks, the details of the project: Improvement of the Palacio de los Deportes Carlos “El Famoso” Hernández.

This sports arena was built between 1975 and 1978 and was renovated within the framework of the XIX Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2002.

Then, in 2003, Carlos “El Famoso” Hernández was named, in honor of the athlete who made boxing history by winning the title of super featherweight champion of the International Boxing Federation, defeating David Santos for the vacant belt of this organization.

Today, 19 years after his last intervention, Bukele announced that approximately $ 11 million will be invested in the sports venue, thanks to financing of up to $ 115.2 million granted by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) for the Infrastructure Construction Program and Rescue of Sports Scenarios at the National Level (PRODEPORTE).

With the Palacio de los Deportes, INDES completes the presentation of the nine improvement projects of those prioritized scenarios with a view to the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023: Jorge “El Mágico” González National Stadium, Pablo Arnoldo Guzmán Softball Stadium , Saturnino Bengoa Ball Park, Flor Blanca Sports Complex, El Polvorín Sports Complex, Ciudad Merliot Sports Complex and San Andrés Equestrian Complex.

The works that will be carried out in this sports venue are:

1) General improvement of the entire main hall, including: structural reinforcements, electrical system renovation, system improvement

2) hydraulic, change of sanitary fixtures, change of roof cover, change of main floor for a certified one, incorporation of new seats, incorporation of new LED lighting and improvement of the following spaces:

– Administrative areas.

– Bodybuilding gym.

– Salvadoran Fencing Federation.

– Salvadoran Table Tennis Federation.

– Salvadoran Boxing Federation.

– Salvadoran Federation of Weightlifting

– Salvadoran Chess Federation.

2) Architectural renovation of the facade, including interactive led lighting on its perimeter.

3) Construction of the foodcourt area, which will be located outside the palace.
