Joker 2: Warner Bros announces release date for part two

Incidentally, the German equivalent of the R rating is quite simply “no youth release”. Is part two already confirmed?

In a June Instagram post, Todd Phillips shows off the script for the sequel, titled Joker: Folie à Deux. The Joker sequel was scripted in collaboration with Scott Silver. Lead actor Joaquin Phoenix has already read it. Folie à Deux is a medical term that translates to “passed on psychotic disorder”. It is not yet known to what extent this will play a role in the second part of the cinema hit.

When is the sequel coming out?

According to the Hollywood news portal deadline will begin production this December and the targeted release date is October 4, 2024. Warner continues to build the DC brand into serious competition for Marvel. With upcoming projects like Shazam! With Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the 13th film in the DC Extended Universe, Warner Bros. Discovery, directed by David Sazlav, is looking to position itself against the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Whether the second part will unleash the same wave of controversy as the first remains to be seen. Intentionally or not, the sensation played into the hands of the studio and, apart from the actual quality of the film, ensured high box office results. How this all fits into the strategy of expanding the DC Extended Universe cannot be assessed at this point in time. joker (buy now €8.99) was originally deliberately advertised as separate from it. So the sequel should be handled in a very similar way.
