Mexico City- The sequel to Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix, will debut on the big screen on October 4, 2024; exactly five years after the premiere of the first film.
The official name is Joker: Folie à Deux; which refers to a medical term that describes an identical or similar mental disorder that affects two or more people, usually members of the same family.
Todd Phillips returned to direct this sequel and is also co-writing the script with Scott Silver, who previously produced A Star Is Born, the 2018 remake starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.
This film will not be a dark drama like the original, but will come in the form of a musical, and Gaga is expected to play the role of Harley Quinn, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Rumor has it that Warner Bros. announced the release date to divert netizens’ conversation from the sudden cancellation of the Batgirl movie, which was nearly completed.
