Dusseldorf.
The Ministry of Justice of North Rhine-Westphalia has secured the house of a public prosecutor for 860,000 euros. According to the judiciary, an “individual case” – the lawyer is at risk.

Unusual process in the NRW judiciary: The home of an endangered public prosecutor is to be secured for 860,000 euros. The Department of Justice has registered the money in the current supplementary budget. A spokeswoman called the measure an “individual case”.

The ministry did not provide any information about the nature of the threat or the specific job of the public prosecutor. According to the ministry spokeswoman, the “need to secure residential buildings” could arise “in the event of special threats”.

Court hearings are often already specially secured. For example, the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court has a high-security wing as a branch office, which is called a “terrorist bunker” by those involved in the process. In fact, negotiations about the mafia, for example, also take place there. (dpa/lnw)
