Karin Viard will chair the 26th Alpe d’Huez comedy film festival

After having been distinguished there and having officiated as a juror, Karin Viard will return to the Alpe d’Huez festival next year as president of the jury.

Actress Karin Viard will chair the 26th edition of the Alpe d’Huez international comedy film festival, which will be held from January 16 to 22, 2023 in the Isère ski resort, the organizers announced on Wednesday.

An actress with a busy filmography, as comfortable in comedy as in drama, Karin Viard, 56, received an interpretation award at the same festival for her role in The Ambitious by Catherine Corsini in 2007, then was a member of the jury in 2016, chaired that year by Kad Merad.

“Quality, audacious and original films”

Presiding over the jury next January represents “an honor (…) and a happiness”, rejoiced the actress, whom the general public had discovered in 1997 in The hikersa comedy where she played a hilarious unlucky vacationer.

“The Festival selects quality, daring and original films and (…) all this happens in good company, and in the mountains,” she said in a statement.

The last editions of the Alpe d’Huez festival had been chaired respectively by Alexandra Lamy (2019), José Garcia (2020) and Michèle Laroque (2022).
