Lasse Granqvist is the sports commentator who is probably heard the most in TV4’s sports broadcasts. Granqvist has a background in Radiosport, but since 2012 he has lived with “Fyran”.

– I quit radio in 2012 and I did it because I didn’t want to become a caricature of myself. There is a good football match being played, and the vast majority of people are watching TV, then the next day you say “oh we’ll go in and check how Granqvist sounds on Youtube” and then you hear a derailed, crazy person.

– I didn’t want to become a caricature of myself. That I would live up to something, no! I hear strings of it when I listen back, it’s a bit too strained, Lasse Granqvist has said earlier in a long interview with Expressen.

Granqvist, 54, has worked as a journalist for a long time and has solid experience. At the same time, the job has led to him living alone.

– I have been told many times that I am married to my work and that is correct. I have made some sacrifices for it. But I think this: it is pointless to sit and look back. There are so many other people who have jobs I wouldn’t find as funny, there are those who don’t have jobs at all, there are those who are sick in their everyday life, there are those who have sick relatives.

The 55-year-old sports commentator previously had two dogs, but earlier this summer both died – within the space of five days.

– Actually, not even the dogs left. They passed away within five days. The two 14-year-old cavaliers I had this summer. It wasn’t a fun experience so I’m struggling myself, says Granqvist in a podcast interview with sports journalist Olof Lundh.
