Liverpool FC must soon look for a new sporting director. As English media unanimously report, Julian Ward will resign as sporting director of the Reds at the end of the season. Ward only took the job in June this year but is reportedly wanting to take a break from football. The LFC was disappointed with the decision but don’t think Ward will sign anywhere else, it said.
In the summer, Michael Edwards’ successor worked, among other things, on signing Darwin Núñez. He is also credited with extending Mohamed Salah’s contract and selling Sadio Mané. For Liverpool, the approaching departure of Ward is a bitter blow. The club coached by Jürgen Klopp is now considering how it would like to position itself and regulate transfer activities in the future. According to the reports, Klopp is heavily involved in this process.
