Location of Taiwan and the origin of the conflict between the United States and China

Taiwan became an international trend due to the growing conflict between China and the United States, same that has included the small island and in part, due to the visit of Nancy PelosiSpeaker of the House of Representatives.

China did not see the US official’s stay well, as she was considered a rebel and separatist. It is worth mentioning that Taiwan is located 200 kilometers southeast of the Asian country, to the north of it is the East China Sea, while to the south is the South China Sea.

It was a Dutch colony for 37 years, specifically from 1642 to 1661, after which it came into the hands of the Quing dynasty. In the midst of the situation, ways have been manifested in which the island can defend itself against China, given that the new US opponent has much more power.

Countries are involved in a conflict

At the end of World War II, the country “of the rising sun” was forced to give up many territories and for this reason, Taiwan returned to Chinese hands. At that very moment, the civil war was taking place within the so-called Republic of China.

This resulted in social conflict and the expulsion of the troops of the government led by Chiang Kai-shek in control of the communists, staying in Taiwan, where they proclaimed a government that was considered legitimate.

In 2005, the Chinese government proclaimed the Anti-Secession Law, which consists of “non-peaceful” measures against the island in the event that it became independent.

The conflict has been escalating and an armed confrontation is feared

At the moment, the United States is Taiwan’s only ally, and it is also its main supplier of weapons, and this situation has not been well received by the Asian country, as they see it as an intervention in the event of a war.

Last Tuesday, August 2, China warned the country of Joe Biden that if Pelosi visited the Taiwan region during her trip through Asia, they should accept the consequences such as “charging” and “paying” the price of their shares.
