Maritime pursuit ended in a mega-seizure of more than 10 tons of glass and fuel off the coast of Sinaloa

The Secretary of the Navy (Semar) managed to deal a significant blow to the drug trafficking in sinaloaafter naval personnel intercepted several vessels carrying almost half a ton of drugs and more than 10 thousand liters of fuel in different actions carried out in the port of Mazatlán.

In these works, units were deployed by sea, land and air, with which 12 alleged members were arrested of organized crime, who were on board the ships that were intercepted by the authorities.

At first, naval elements detected a vessel with probable illegal cargo that was sailing through the waters of the Exclusive Economic Zone of the jurisdiction of the Eighth Naval Region, in Mazatlán.

In view of this, they proceeded to follow up and, after a brief pursuit, managed to arrest seven people who were transporting 416.8 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloridebetter known as “crystal”. The drug was distributed in 17 sacks, two cardboard boxes and 9 rectangular packages.

At least three boats were seized by naval personnel, in which the drug was transported. They also arrested a dozen people.

In a second action, naval personnel intercepted two vessels. In one of them was transported 10 thousand 450 liters of fuel of apparent illegal origin, for which they proceeded to seize it. Although what was in the other maritime unit was not detailed, it was reported that a total of five people were arrested in these works.

In the first ship there were two people on board, and in the second there were three others. In this way, the arrest of 12 alleged members of drug traffickingwho were made available to the Sinaloa Prosecutor’s Office so that the corresponding investigation folder can be integrated.

Although these events were recorded on November 10, it was not until Monday the 21st that Semar announced the seizures and the mega-seizure. In a video shared by the unit, the drug packages and the monitoring carried out by the authorities by air and sea.

In Sinaloa, the presence of several criminal groups has been detected that dispute the territory to control the transfer of drugs to the United States, mainly. The Sinaloa cartel is one of them, since among his criminal activities is the methamphetamine production in clandestine laboratories.

However, the drug that has become “popular” both in Mexico and in the United States (in this country to a greater extent) is fentanylwhich can be up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine, so a small dose can be lethal.

That is why there have also been multiple seizures of this synthetic opioid in the stronghold of the Sinaloa Cartel, where several drug laboratories have also been dismantled. In the third week of November, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) announced the seizure of 43 kilograms of fentanyl and 40 of methamphetamine.

This was achieved after a search of a property that was located in the town of Portezuelos in the municipality of Culiacán, where illegal activities were allegedly committed. In addition, other types of substances were seized, such as thousand 160 liters of tetrahydrofuran (precursor to fentanyl).

Nevertheless, No detainees were reporteddespite the fact that a firearm, an industrial press, three filling machines, two industrial blenders and 90 kilograms of magnesium were also found.
