May lose access to the Storting

When you have finished as a Storting representative, you have free access to the Storting building for life. This means that parliamentary representatives who become lobbyists have free access to go in and out of the Storting, writes VG.

But now both the Labor Party, the Socialist People’s Party, the Red Party and the Liberal Party will consider the scheme.

– I think that having access to the Storting as a former parliamentary representative is a scheme that should not be linked to new jobs, but which should contribute to continuity. They should be able to have contact with the political environment afterwards, but not for their own work, but for the Storting’s work, says SV’s Torgeir Knag Fylkesnes.

Both the Liberal Party’s faction leader in the business committee in the Storting, Alfred Bjørlo and the Red Party leader Bjørnar Moxnes believe the scheme should be considered.

– We will consider whether one can make a distinction between them going free when they visit their old workplace on their own keel and having to operate as other visitors when they are on assignment from a client, says Kari Henriksen.

She forms the APS faction of the Storting’s presidency together with Storting president Masud Gharahkhani.
