There are a number of changes at Chelsea in the coming weeks. According to the club, the sale of the club to a consortium led by US entrepreneur Todd Boehly is as good as fixed. The multi-billion dollar deal is due to be finalized at the end of May. The Blues are currently assuming that they will then be able to make transfers again.
It is not just reinforcement for the thinned defensive in view. The Londoners are also putting out feelers for new offensive forces. According to a report by ‘Sport Mediaset’, Chelsea now have Ivan Perisic (33) on the line. Accordingly, there is even an agreement between the player and the English club. The Croatian would not cost a transfer fee as his deal at Inter Milan only expires at the end of June.
Perisic: “I didn’t deserve it”
The Nerazzurri had offered Perisic a two-year contract with a salary of four and a half million euros. Inter’s sporting director Giuseppe Marotta was also confident before the last Coppa Italia final against Juventus Turin (4: 2 aet) that he could keep his left winger. However, after the Nerrazzuri cup victory, Perisic expressed his displeasure with the contract offer. “That’s not how you treat a deserved player, I didn’t deserve it”said Perisic.
Chelsea are offering the winger the required €6m a year but will have to wait for the club to be sold before they can rejoin the transfer market. So there is still some time for Inter to mend the torn tablecloth and increase the offer. In addition, Juve is said to have already asked Perisic. The last word in the tug-of-war over his services has probably not yet been spoken.
