What do Florian Neuhaus (24) and Felix Uduokhai (24) have in common? Both can look back on a disappointing first third of the season so far. The midfielder from Borussia Mönchengladbach has lost his status as an undisputed regular player, while the central defender from FC Augsburg was out for two months with a torn tendon in his thigh.
But there is something else that connects Neuhaus and Uduokhai: they have the same advisor as Christian Nerlinger and are obviously on the wish list of SSC Napoli. As the ‘Corriere dello Sport’ reports, the Maradona club has contacted the former Bayern manager to discuss a possible transfer in January in both cases (each contract until 2024).
Opportunities for Naples?
So it seems that Napoli’s project is still at the very beginning. At first glance, it doesn’t seem likely. Neuhaus, for example, is on the trigger in the battle for Gladbach’s midfield positions and is currently on the upswing again. Uduokhai, on the other hand, will first want to achieve full performance again.
So why break down the tents in a few weeks and migrate to Vesuvius? Especially since the Italians would have to come to an agreement with Gladbach and Augsburg. The fact that the Bundesliga duo lost an important player in the middle of the season would come as a surprise.
