Melissa Barrera will shout for Mexico in ‘Scream 6’

Monterrey Mexico.- “Never mess with the daughter of a serial killer,” says Sam Carpenter, played by Melissa Barrera, almost at the end of the fifth part of Scream.

A phrase that was not free: I knew that I would be a survivor in the franchise of the slasher subgenre, and it is not for less, since it turned out to be the daughter of the murderer of the original 1996 tape, created by Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven.

“I am happy to be able to continue telling this story and to be able to represent Mexico in this important franchise. Many people thought they were going to kill me very quickly, but I am still alive and happy to repeat with the same creative team as producers, directors, writers. and those of us who survived,” says Melissa, laughing, in an interview.

“I’m a fan of the franchise, I didn’t think twice (the proposal) and even if they had killed me, I’m happy to have been a part, because they are such epic movies and even have a scene of your death, like that, super bloody, it’s something that I would have liked.”

Thus, to the surprise of fans of the story, terror will lurk again in the career of the 31-year-old Mexican, who is ready to face Ghostface again in an adventure that will start filming next month, and in which she will repeat credits with Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega.

In the Paramount Pictures film, fans of the film saw a new generation of teenagers partner with the original characters played by Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

“We are going to film in Montreal, I will be there for 11 weeks, until mid-August,” Melissa announced during a talk held at midnight on Tuesday, after Tel√≥ Presenta’s musical Rock of Ages, in which her sister Rossana participates, in the Convex Theater, in Monterrey.

“It is very nice to be at home and return to your roots, to be in this theater now as an audience when I stepped on that stage many times, and to see people starting their careers and with dreams like I had 10 years ago that I was here” .

With a washed face and a slender figure that was visible through jeans and a crop top, the actress added that after the second half of the year there are several movie premieres.

“I premiered two films: Carmen and Bed Rest, in addition to a series on Netflix called Breathe,” said the star, considered one of the Latin figures with the most present and future in Hollywood.

Regarding the series that will premiere with Netflix, he explained that it is a survival series, it consists of six chapters, it is very intense and it will be different from everything they have seen it do in the cinema.

Barrera knows that the seeds she planted 11 years ago are paying off, and she is excited about the work and opportunities she is having.

“I am hungry to continue growing and making characters that represent challenges, and always put the name of Mexico on high.”

“I am proud to be part of that Latin wave. There is a lot of talent and we are opening doors for ourselves.”

The actress will travel to New York for some promotional activities, and then she will start screaming in the new horror film.
