Mercato market: Slimani launches a final maneuver to save his future

Faced with the deadlock that characterizes the departure of the Algerian international, Islam Slimani, the historic striker of the Greens should make a final decision in order to find a solution to his contractual situation with the Sporting CP club.

Thus, the striker of the Algerian team, would be obliged to revise his salary intentions downwards to engage with one of his suitors. A major factor in the failure of his departure so far, Islam Slimani’s salary does not align with the salary grid of many clubs which have expressed the desire to recruit him during this Mercato window of 2022.

Indeed, according to information from the Portuguese press, the prolific striker of the Algerian team, Slimani, would not oppose a drop in salary with the club of the Portuguese capital so as not to compromise his future. In this sense, Slimani would agree to lower his salary with the Lisbon team to accentuate his desire to join a new club.

Gaining importance after his many spells on the grounds of the European continent, Slimani receives a gross annual salary which amounts to 3.2 million euros. This is what makes the Algerian striker one of the highest paid players in the Lisbon Lions squad.

But for the latter, this salary weighs on the finances of the club and a possible transfer would not displease the leaders of Sporting CP, especially since this desire is also expressed by the technical staff of the club.

Go back to better move forward?

Expressing his wish to continue playing on European soil, the Algerian striker, Islam Slimani, would be obliged to make concessions to be able to concretize his desire.

Refusing to abdicate at first, the Algerian striker would be more flexible as to his salary intentions. The latter were the main reason for the withdrawal of several clubs who put Slimani in their sights.

However, following this compromise, Islam Slimani’s situation could take another turn in the coming days. A turning point which could be expressed by an almost imminent departure of the Algerian striker.

Thus, European clubs could return to the charge to resume discussions with the agents of the player of the Algerian team.
