Almost a week after its release, Metal: Hellsinger is back in the news to let us explore behind the scenes of its conception and thus learn some anecdotes, in particular concerning the musicians who participated in the project.
In the bowels of the title
Nicklas Hjertberg and Elvira Björkman of Two Feathers open up by explaining that the very idea of organizing a concert around the title was at first more of a joke than a real idea. But as you know, the show did take place at the last Gamescom.
Shila Vikström and David Goldfarb from The Outsiders studio also lend themselves to the exercise, the opportunity to learn that the project was born in David’s head when he played at Doom 2016. He also defines Metal : Hellsinger as a mix between Doom and Rock Band.
The studio being financially limited, he took advantage of having already worked with Two Feathers to offer them to compose the soundtrack of the title, which the group responded favorably. This allowed them to integrate Mikael Stanne into the project, singer of Dark Tranquility and The Halo Effect, since his girlfriend works with the mother of Nicklas Hjertberg, following which he recorded his first track in 2019.
For Trivium singer and guitarist Matt K. Heafy, it also came naturally, since he was immediately enthusiastic about the idea of singing for a video game soundtrack when his manager told him. submitted the proposal. He explains that he has been a fan of this medium since his earliest childhood and was already playing Doom when he was 9 years old.
For his part, Dennis Lyxzen of Refused and INVSN, was immediately seduced by the concept which he found very original. Unfortunately, all the artists who participated in the project did not speak, but we understand that the title has aroused a lot of interest.
If you want to immerse yourself in the frenzied riffs of Metal: Hellsinger, then you can immediately enjoy it on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. The title is also included in Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
