Mexico begins August with 2,691 new infections and 17 deaths from Covid

The Ministry of Health (SSa) reported 2,961 new coronavirus infections and 17 deaths additional this Monday, August 1 due to the Covid-19 disease.

At the cut of this Monday, August 1, Mexico already accumulates a total of 6 million 761,617 positive cases of Covid-19 and 327,750 deaths because of the virus.

The Ministry of Health said that until this Monday, August 1, they have 141,588 active cases detected of Covid-19 throughout the country.

Most of those cases are in Mexico City, Colima, Baja California Sur, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Coahuila, Tlaxcala, Sinaloa, Nuevo León and Aguascalientes, in that order.

In the Mexico City there are 28,880 active infections. The State of Mexico has 11,379 infections, followed by Nuevo León and Guanajuato, with more than 10,000 cases each.

In the last five weeks, the majority of active cases of Covid-19 in Mexico are present in the 18-29-year-old groups, followed by the 30-39-year-old group and 40-49-year-olds.

According to the agency, Mexico recorded a total of 699,967 coronavirus infections at the end of July, while January 2022 still remains the month with the highest number of cases recorded in the year: 952,003 infections.
