Microsoft Teams, Outlook, OneDrive… This Wednesday, January 25, users are struggling to connect to several Microsoft 365 services. Some are simply deprived of access while others are deploring major slowdowns. Microsoft is working to fix the problem.

Microsoft OneDrive suffered a major outage earlier this year, preventing users from accessing their files. A few weeks later, several services from the Redmond giant are still acting up. Many users are unable to use Microsoft applications this Wednesday, January 25. The simultaneity of breakdowns on the various services is puzzling…

Microsoft 365 services hit by multiple outages

These include Microsoft Teams, Azure, Outlook and OneDrive. Over a thousand users have also reported having problems accessing Xbox Live on Down Detector. Some just can’t access the aforementioned software while others have to deal with severe slowdowns. On Twitter, the official Microsoft 365 account confirmed that something was wrong:

We are investigating issues affecting multiple Microsoft 365 services″. And to add some details later on the origin of the failures: “We have identified a potential network issue and are reviewing telemetry to determine next steps for troubleshooting.” The network configuration issue has now been isolated and Microsoft is working to find an appropriate strategy to fix it “without causing any additional impact”.

Mails that are not sent, video meetings impossible… Outages have made life hell for workers who rely on Microsoft services. Others, however, see the good side of things: “Outlook & Teams being down, this is probably the best morning of my life”, assures on Twitter Shaun Whelan, very happy to be idle.

The number of people affected by the outage gradually decreased as the morning progressed, according to data from Downdetector. We are thus counting on a complete return to normal in the afternoon.
