On Thursday morning, nine Palestinians were killed and 20 injured in the deadliest Israeli raid in the occupied West Bank in many years. Among the victims, several civilians, like Magda Obdai, a 59-year-old mother, killed at her window with two bullets in her body.

HASefore Friday prayer time, the streets of Jenin refugee camp are religiously calm. Children on electric scooters slalom on the partially charred asphalt. It was here that the day before, fighting of rare intensity opposed the Israeli army and armed militants from local and Islamist factions.
One of the Tsahal’s targets: a house in a residential area where key members of the Islamic Jihad, an organization recognized as terrorist by the European Union, the United States and Israel, were entrenched. “I heard everything, my house is next to the destroyed one,” explains Oum Youssouf, at the scene of the incursion. She looks down at the remains of the house and comments: “This is where I saw the bodies, two of them were completely charred. »
