Military exercise “African Lion Morocco 2022”: Israel takes its first step

With the normalization of relations with Morocco; Israel continues its “first steps” in Africa. After his attempt to introduce the African Union Summit, place today to the African military exercise “African Lion”.

Indeed, Israel is preparing to participate, for the first time, as an “observer country” in the “African Lion 2022” military exercise, the largest on the African continent, organized this year in Morocco.

The event was launched yesterday Monday in southern Morocco, in Agadir, by the United States and the Makhzen; which is the host nation for this year’s exercise.

“An exercise to counter transnational threats” (Africom)

In its press release announcing the event; Africom stressed that this exercise aims to “strengthen our common defense capabilities to counter transnational threats and violent extremist organizations”.

For this year’s exercise, approximately 7,500 soldiers from several nations will mark their presence. These are France, Tunisia, Brazil, Chad, the United Kingdom, Italy, Senegal and Ghana. Military observers from NATO and some fifteen “partner countries” will also be present.
