Mob Psycho 100 released the first trailer for the Season 3 from the anime. The producers of the acclaimed anime presented the trailer for the third season on May 12, the in-universe date of birth of the series’ main hero, Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama.
The colorful and energetic trailer previews some of the strange and heartbreaking situations in which Mob and Reigen will be involved in the new season, which is scheduled to premiere in October. The season was originally announced in 2021 with a short teaser trailer.
Setsuo Ito will reprise the role of Mob, as will Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Takahiro Sakurai, who will reprise the role of Reigen. They will be joined this season by Takanori Hoshino as Serizawa, Atsumi Tanezaki (Spy x Family) as Tome Kurata, and Uki Satake as Tsubomi.
Yuzuru Tachikawa , who was the main director for the series’ second season, has been promoted to executive director, while Sk8 the Infinity’s Takahiro Asui will serve as the anime’s new main director. The anime will once again be produced by BONES, the animation studio responsible for the anime adaptation of My Hero Academia and the original Eureka Seven franchise.
Mob Psycho 100 tells the story of Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama, a seemingly ordinary teenager who is actually one of the most powerful psychics in the world. To keep his immense telekinetic powers in check, Mob is forced to carefully maintain his composure and avoid any strong feelings or emotions, hindering his ability to lead a normal life, especially when he goes to high school.
Things change when he meets Reigen Arataka, a charismatic charlatan who promotes himself as an exorcist, who gives Mob a job and promises to help him learn to control his abilities.
The anime is based on a manga created by manga author ONE, who also created the equally lauded One-Punch Man. The series premiered in 2012 in Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday magazine, where it was serialized until its conclusion in late 2017. ONE followed up the manga with a spinoff, Reigen, which was serialized between 2018 and 2019.
The first two seasons of Mob Psycho 100, which originally aired in 2016 and 2019 respectively, are available to stream. A live-action adaptation was also produced in Japan in 2018, which is now available for international streaming through Netflix.
