Murillo leads Charros in triumph over Venados

JALISCO.

EStar Agustín Murillo hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Charros de Jalisco left the Venados de Mazatlán on the ground Tuesday to beat 2-1 in the Mexican Pacific League.

Murillo, who went 3-2 and drove in the winning run, was the figure on offense for the Charros, while Japhet Amador produced a touchdown with a double.

Roberto Osuna (1-1) retired a perfect inning with two fans to claim victory, while the disaster went to the record of Roberto Espinosa (1-2) after allowing two hits and the decisive run without being able to get outs in his relief.

In Monterrey, Roberto Valenzuela drove in two touchdowns with a single, Fernando Pérez and Anthony Giansanti each hit solo homers and the Sultanes posted a tight 6-5 victory over the Tomateros de Culiacán.

Gabino Avalaos won (1-0) with a blank inning and two thirds in relief work and lost Aldo Montes (0-1), shaken with six touchdowns and five hits in five and a third innings.

In Obregón. Elian Leyva topped former Major League Baseball Hector Velázquez in a pitching duel, and the Hermosillo Naranjeros defeated the Yaquis 2-0.

Leyva (2-0) completed five blank innings with a two-hitter and seven fans. Velázquez (1-1) took the loss after allowing five hits and two touchdowns in seven innings.

The winners’ offense was summed up in a two-touchdown homerun by Luis Alfonso Cruz in the fourth inning.

In Navojoa, Raúl Carrillo delivered a solid start and the Mayos unleashed an 11-hit offense to shut out the Águilas de Mexicali 7-0.

Carrillo (1-1) conceded two hits in five blank episodes to win the game. The loss went to Javier Solano (0-1) after allowing three touchdowns and six hits in six innings.

Mailkel Serrano went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, while Asael Sánchez hit a solo homer to lead the Mayos’ attack.

In Los Mochis, the doubleheader between the Cañeros and the Algodoneros de Guasave was suspended due to bad weather.
