Nest Wifi Pro: a new more expensive model with WiFi 6E in Google boxes

Google is currently working on a new router, the Google Nest Wifi Pro. It would have Wifi 6E and would be marketed more expensive than its predecessor, ie 199 dollars (the Nest Wifi today costs 139 euros at Google).

According to the Federal Communications Commission (or FCC), Google is currently working on a new Wi-Fi 6E router, the Nest WiFi Pro. This new, more expensive device would therefore offer the latest connectivity standard available, which reaches a maximum of 9.6 Gbit/s under ideal conditions.

The main difference between Wi-Fi 6 and 6E is the use of a third bandwidth range, approximately between 6 GHz and 7 GHz. Generally speaking, Wi-Fi 6E should have no direct impact on the potential speed of your home or office network. Instead, this 6GHz band is generally less crowded, which means home devices are less likely to interfere with each other.

In terms of price, the Nest Wifi Pro is said to cost $199 upon release (compared to $169 for the Nest Wifi router in 2019 and $99.99 for the relaunched Google Wifi in 2020). Today, the Nest Wifi is sold new in France for an average price ranging from €129 to €149. Wi-Fi 5 on the current Nest router offers, as a reminder, speeds of up to 2.2 Gbps.

Rumors indicate that a 2-pack will be offered at $299.99 and a 3-pack at $399.99. The Nest Wifi Pro is said to come in Snow (White), Linen (Light Brown), Fog (Light Blue) and Lemongrass (Light Yellow and Green) colors. This color would therefore align with recent products such as Pixel Buds Pro, the Nest Doorbell (battery) and the upcoming Pixel 7. However, we don’t know anything else about its design or features, other than that it would have an Ethernet socket.

The Nest WiFi Pro is set to launch at the Made by Google event on October 6 alongside the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, as well as the Pixel Watch.
