Netflix’s Merlina will premiere after Halloween

Guadalajara Mexico.- The next series Merlina, from Tim Burton and Netflix, the spin-off of Los Locos Addams, starring Jenna Ortega as Merlina Addams, already has a premiere date.

The production will premiere all its episodes on November 23.

The story begins when young Merlina is expelled from her provincial public high school for an incident involving a group of bullies, a swimming pool, and a bag of hungry piranhas, for which she is sent to Nevermore Academy, the mysterious magical boarding school where her friends live. parents met for the first time. There, she Merlina will learn much more than can be found in any textbook, as a series of brutal murders draws her into a mystery that will test her typical level of nonchalance.

About her character as Merlina, Jenna Ortega said in a statement that the story follows a teenager (no longer the sarcastic girl) who has to learn to use her psychic power in the middle of her school life.

“Her sarcastic, snide comments don’t sound as charming when they come from someone who probably knows more than a ten-year-old girl. It’s like a balancing act. We didn’t want her to sound like any teenage girl, but we didn’t want her to be too ignorant either.

“Every time we’d see Merlina, she’d just make a witty comment or punch line, which is always right, and I think that’s what people really love about her. But on this show, there’s Merlina in every scene. He has the opportunity to show more dimensions, and become a little more real person, something that we have never seen, “he said.

Merlina comes straight from the twisted minds of showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville), as well as creepy filmmaker Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Ed Wood), who directed multiple episodes. Along with Ortega, the series stars Gwendoline Christie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers and Hunter Doohan.
