Just last month, we learned that Avalanche Studios, creators of the Just Cause series, were working on a 2012 game based on Marvel’s Iron Man. Unfortunately, the title never became a reality because, according to Christofer Sundberg, Disney simply didn’t give the team enough time to develop the game. As However, publisher EA has now announced Marvel fans will probably still be able to enjoy a third-person Iron Man game.
EA is working on a third-person Iron Man title
Developed by Motive Studio, a single-player, third-person, action-adventure game of Iron Man is currently in early development. The team is led by Olivier Proulx, who has worked on previous Marvel titles such as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In collaboration with Marvel, the game aims to “Include an original storyline that takes Iron Man’s rich history, channels the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and allows players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.”
“We are thrilled to be working with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original vision to one of Marvel’s most important, powerful, and beloved characters,” said Bill Rosemann, vice president and creative director at Marvel Games. “Her experience of delivering both established worlds of entertainment and exciting gameplay – combined with her authentic passion for the armored icon – will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to an iconic hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.”
According to EA’s statement, the new Iron Man title is only the first of many new games in the collaboration between Electronic Arts and Marvel. More information about the game will follow as the title progresses in development. Motive studio itself is also currently looking for new talentto help them work on their new project.
