The market town of Rankweil has erected 64 new urn graves at the forest cemetery in Rankweil. The expansion had become necessary due to the great demand for cremation.

Of the 360 urn graves that previously existed, only eight are currently free. “An extension of the urn graves was therefore urgently required,” explains the deputy manager of the Rankweil building yard, Thomas Lins. He expects demand to continue to rise in the long term.

Cremation for more than ten years
The forest cemetery, which was built in the 1950s, is administered by the market community, as are the cemeteries “Unterer St. Michael” and “Brederis”. The first urn graves at the forest cemetery were already erected in 1998/99. At the municipal cemetery in Brederis there is also an urn wall with 80 niches (already half occupied) and an additional 18 urn graves. Burials of urns are also possible in existing earthen graves.
