Next James Bond: These big plans are there!

Whoever takes on the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig arguably has a pretty big task ahead of them. in one Conversation with Variety James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson explained what they expect from their new Bond. So far it was “too early” to talk about potential candidates, but the new James Bond is expected to take on the role for quite some time.

Next James Bond is set to take on the role for a full decade

“The thing is, it’s going to take a couple of years. And when we cast Bond, it’s a 10-12 year commitment. So he’s probably thinking, ‘Do I really want this?’ Not everyone wants to do that. It was hard enough getting Daniel Craig to do it. And he was in his early 30s at the time!”

So far, Idris Elba has been one of the most promising actors for James Bond, but he has rather distanced himself from the role in the past. It’s not inconceivable that this decade-long commitment just doesn’t look particularly appealing. It could still be quite a long time before we find out who will ultimately play James Bond. Some actors would certainly want to take the role in a movie, but according to Barbara Broccoli, it wouldn’t really work.

Daniel Craig, for example, has played James Bond in five different films, from 2006’s Casino Royale to the recent No Time to Die. The current favorite for the role is Witcher star Henry Cavill. However, whether he wants to play the role until he reaches his 50s remains to be seen. For Bond fans there is already some good news, at least with a remake of GoldenEye 007.
