Parish hall takes shape

Sebastiansaal Gisingen is on the (new) schedule.

GISINGEN The construction work is in full swing. For some years now, people have been thinking about what the parish Gisingen should do and what can be financed for the parish, concrete plans have been underway for one and a half years, but Corona and an overheated construction industry have delayed the start of construction. “But now the time has come. We have already invested a lot of time and energy in this large-scale project in our parish and hope that the work will go well and without accidents, ”explains Pastor Peter Willi.

The hall on the upper floor is currently being expanded and the shell is to be completed next Monday. The masonry work on the substructure has also been completed. The implementation of the new kitchen is currently still in the raw state. “We are currently fully on the (new) schedule,” said Manfred Nägele, from the parish church council, happily. Once this had to be postponed due to the corona.

Main focus of the new hall

The planned hall will be around 150 square meters. In order to raise the total cost of 2.4 million euros, the parish hopes for the most generous support possible from the general public in addition to its own funds and funding from the diocese and the city of Feldkirch. In contrast to the previous parish hall, the Sebastiansaal will be built on the upper floor, which can accommodate up to a hundred people. Church choir rehearsals, deepening of faith, parents ‘evenings, lectures, senior citizens’ meetings, film evenings and other events of the parish family will take place here.

In addition to the parish events, we also want to make this hall available to associations in Gisingen (such as for annual general meetings) or for other purposes (community care, advanced training …) on the basis of Christian values. Intensive considerations are in progress on how we can best use the old and at the same time new parish home with the existing human and financial resources for the parish and the population.

“2.4 million euros are estimated, we want to raise 200,000 Ero through donations,” explains Pastor Willi. These will be with the ticket sale, Sebastianwein, Drekönigssalz, Nüdile and biscuits and the main campaign “building blocks” of the 125th anniversary. Lots for a price of 10 euros can be purchased in the parish office, at the Sparkasse and the Raiba in Gisingen, ADEG Runastraße, ADEG Noflerstraße, SPAR Sebastianplatz and the Sebastianapotheke. All tickets take part in the raffle that will take place when the parish hall reopens in Easter 2022. You can win a flight to Rome, a sightseeing flight, free use of the hall and an overnight stay in the Silbertal. TAY
