Payments from the unemployment insurance fund decrease sharply in Jämtland County

– During the pandemic, the unemployment insurance fund took great responsibility for the financial security of those who lost their jobs. The unemployment insurance fund provides security when it is needed most and when the labor market is now brighter, it is natural that payments go down, says Tomas Eriksson, head of the Swedish unemployment insurance funds in a press release.

The total payments from the unemployment insurance fund in Jämtland County during the third quarter amounted to SEK 49 million, compared with the third quarter of 2020 where the payments were SEK 75 million.

Largest decrease in Blekinge

In Sweden as a whole, payments decreased by 31 percent during the third quarter of this year compared with the corresponding quarter last year. At the same time, there are major differences between different parts of the country. Blekinge has the largest reduction in payments from the unemployment insurance fund, 44 per cent compared with the third quarter of 2020. Västernorrland has only noted a 22 per cent decrease during the same period.
