Peru: Today they will choose the “Mochica Warrior” in a competition of physical resistance and knowledge

A stiff competition under the sun will test physical stamina and knowledge of several Peruvians to choose from ‘Mochica Warrior 2023′. The activity, which will include a race and activities inspired by Mochica iconography, will take place today, Sunday, January 29, for the 14 years of creation of the Huaca Rajada Site Museum – Sipan.

“The Huaca Rajada Site Museum – Sipan houses the memory of the Mochica past of Sipán”said Enrique Munoz Valderrama, Director of the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Lambayeque and Executing Unit 005 Naylamp – Lambayeque.

At 9:30 in the morning the activities will begin. What will the Guerrero Mochica 2023 competition consist of?

The director of the Executing Unit 005 Naylamp – Lambayeque also explained that competitors They will carry out various ancestral practices and rituals represented in Mochica iconographyY the race will have scenes from our north coast, seeking to reinforce a new cultural tourist route that connects Cayaltí, Zaña, Sipán, Saltur and Ventarrón.

“The participants will wear a Mochica-style neck cover and a mesh or cloth bag to place what they will collect on their way (such as pallares, seeds of native plants). There will be some stops, they will have to answer questions (with prior information that will be given), for example about the tourist route that is sought to be promoted, the local nature; and make an offering ritual and then go towards the goal”he detailed.

The winner will be placed with the ornaments of his achieved rank: ‘Mochica Warrior 2023’.

Among the activities there will also be a video in sign language in the permanent room of the Tomb 14 (Warrior Priest)as a inclusive museum resource.
