The image editing app Pixelmator Pro for the Mac should also be able to edit videos after an update. The developers announced this in a blog post. However, it has not yet been announced when the update will be released. It should be published “soon”, it said when asked by a user.
The first version of Pixelmator was released in September 2007. An iOS version has also been available since 2014. Often referred to in reviews as an alternative to Photoshop, the program caused a stir with the introduction of features such as ML Super Resolution. With this, the resolution of images can be increased, whereby pixel effects are avoided by meaningful padding via machine learning (ML).
Also in the future no subscription model
The video editing should according to the blog post be possible with the well-known image editing tools. As a result, users could create moving designs with video layers. A short video shows the familiar user interface with a video clip open.
When asked by users, the developers did not reveal any further details. At least they let it be known that the previous price model of a one-time payment would remain. A subscription model is not planned. Only recently, competitor Serif presented its new Affinity graphics suite and also stuck to the one-off price.
Version 3.1 of Pixelmator Pro was released earlier this month. The current version contains adjustments to the new macOS version Ventura and also offers support for the AVIF image format. Pixelmator Pro normally costs 48 euros, but is currently being offered at half price for a limited time.
