PlayStation Home: the PS3 metaverse comes back to life thanks to modders

After resurrecting the multiplayer of Motortorm, the programmers of the PSONE collective promise to reopen the doors of PlayStation Home soon, the “PS3 metaverse” closed by Sony in 2015 due to the lack of interest of fans and the low influx of users.

With Destination Home, the boys of the PlayStation Online Network Emulated (PSONE) Group hope to revive this old interactive space to allow access to all those who wish to relive the atmosphere through mods or PS3 emulators.

The team that is giving shape to this project reiterates that it is a non-profit work carried out to ensure its preservation and, also for this reason, they do not accept any kind of donations: once the work on Destination Home is completed, the “porting emulated “of PlayStation Home will be made available completely free of charge.

The efforts made by the PSONE team are already paying off, judging by the video packaged by the modders to show the successful reactivation of some of the multiplayer spaces of the original PlayStation Home metaverse such as theHub, the Playground and the Bowling Alley, as well as players’ personal rooms and related options for customizing their furnishings.

To those who follow us, we remind you that in April of this year Sony renewed the PlayStation Home brand until 2028, without however giving reasons for this decision and, even less, without offering explanations on the actual return of this metaverse on platforms such as PS5. .
