There is no doubt that Pokémon is popular. The sales figures for the series’ newest entry must still be said to be astounding, with over 10 million copies sold in just three days.
The impressive milestone was revealed by Nintendo itself in a press release. The figure includes both physical copies and those purchased digitally via the Nintendo eShop.
As Nintendo writes, the sales figures for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are higher than any previous game launched on a Nintendo platform.
Previously, it was the Nintendo 3DS games Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon that set the sales record for the series, with 7.2 million in one week. The first Pokémon games on Switch – Sword and Shield – reached six million in one week.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet head to the region of Paldea, where players can explore and hunt pocket monsters in a large, open world. Since launching on November 18, the games have received a mixed reception from fans, with much criticism directed at poor performance on the Nintendo Switch console.
We’re working on our Pokémon Violet review, which will be published as soon as it’s ready.
