Police: Hünxe: ATMs in two banks blown up at the same time

Two ATMs were blown up in Hünxe during the night. The perpetrators made loot. They struck at two neighboring financial institutions.

The Volksbank and the Sparkasse Rhein-Lippe were targeted by ATM blasters in Hünxe early Thursday morning. The police launched a large-scale manhunt, in which a helicopter was also used. A spokesman said the perpetrators probably stole money from one of the blasts.

At around 3:20 a.m., two detonations woke residents on the main street in the middle of Hünxe. Several people then called the police emergency number 110 and reported that two or three people had sped away in a dark-colored Audi after the explosions.
