Queen’s funeral: TV ratings! Millions tuned in

ZDF broadcast his “ZDF special: Mourning for Queen Elizabeth II.” in stages, interrupted again and again by “Today Xpress”-Expenditure. Between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., 1.29 million viewers tuned in to the Mainz station, and between 11:03 a.m. and 2:44 p.m. the reach was 2.55 million. For the hour that followed, interest remained fairly constant at 2.38 million people. The total market share was initially 21.0, then 22.6 and up to 3:50 p.m. 19.5 percent. 11.2, 13.0 and 10.7 percent were measured among the young audience. Shortly before 4:00 p.m., ZDF picked up significantly. By 6:07 p.m., 3.65 million people were watching the special, including 0.39 million younger people – just them “today”– Nachrichten had more viewers on ZDF this Monday with 4.15 million viewers. The market share was 24.4 percent for all and 13.7 percent for younger people.

At 7:30 p.m. there was another special broadcast with a summary of the day, which was watched by 3.35 million viewers. The market shares were now at a decent level and amounted to 13.7 and 8.7 percent respectively. In prime time, ZDF relied on the 90-minute version “thou shalt hear”, which 3.59 million viewers did not want to miss. The young audience was represented by 0.35 million people. The consequences were a slightly below-average 13.3 percent market share among all and a moderate 5.5 percent among 14- to 49-year-olds.
