Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal confirmed that he will play Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the season, where he will go in search of the 23rd major tournament of his career, after the announcement that he will be a first-time father with his wife, Xisca.
The Mallorcan had raised doubts after his coronation at Roland Garros, where he said that he had to play the last games with his left foot infiltrated and even confessed that he would rather have a new foot than win the final, in which he later beat Norwegian Casper Ruud.
Despite the rumors about a possible retirement post Roland Garros, Nadal was quickly in charge of denying them and said that he was going to undergo radiofrequency treatment.
After two sessions, Nadal confirmed that the treatment is working and that he will play the tournament that is played in the All England lawn Tennis Club, where he was consecrated in 2008 and 2010.
“I haven’t played on grass for three years. I will be in London for a week of training and I hope to be competitive. The most complicated thing will be the beginning due to the lack of rhythm, but if I advance it will give me personal security“, he detailed.
This news comes at an excellent personal moment for Nadal, since in recent days he said that he will be a father for the first time with his partner Xisca: “I don’t know how life changes, I don’t plan a change in my professional life.”
The tennis player and the Mallorcan married in 2019 and, although the news was not confirmed by the protagonists themselves, they assure that “they are happy and living the moment normally”.
