At 1. FC Köln they plan in the future without young talent Joshua Schwirten. This is reported by Cologne’s ‘Express’. According to the daily newspaper, the contract of the 20-year-old native, which expires in the summer, will not be extended. This means that Schwirten’s time with the billy goats will come to an end after 14 years. For the pros, the midfielder was last used for the first time on the trip to the US.
Schwirten scored a goal in the 4-2 friendly defeat against VfB Stuttgart last weekend and earned extra praise from Steffen Baumgart. The 50-year-old sees one “steady development at Josh”but also restricts: “We know what he can do. But when everyone is there, it’s obviously a long way for him.” Schwirten has played 14 competitive games for the Domstadt second team this season and was directly involved in five goals.
