Resident Evil 2: more than ten million copies distributed!
Initially released on January 25, the remake of Resident Evil 2 convinced the press and the public: evidenced by the ratings of 91/100 and 9.0/10 on the ratings aggregator metacritic. A success on paper that can also be seen in practice. This morning, it was the official page of Capcom’s team 1 (the one managing Resident Evil in particular) who shared his enthusiasm:
We did it !
Capcom Dev 1 shared an image reminiscent of Resident Evil 2 Remake having sold over ten million units worldwide. A colossal figure that makes RE2 (2019) one of Capcom’s biggest hits, the studio’s flagship license being Monster Hunter.
Good numbers for Capcom
A success that first surprises the person concerned: last April, Capcom had to revise its forecasts upwards thanks to the excellent sales recorded on its titles. It must be said that Capcom has gone into overdrive for Resident Evil 2 Remake but also for the third one: already available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the titles have been the subject of an update optimized for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. On this subject, it was the last PC update that made players cringe.
Either way, the future looks pretty bright for Capcom. In addition to the successes of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, the publisher has other titles in preparation in its bag: Exoprimal, Pragmata but also the highly anticipated Street Fighter VI. In a field other than that of video games, it is also on Netflix that Capcom and Resident Evil are investing: the eponymous series has been available since today on the SVOD platform.
