Review Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360: versatility, portability and power of a great 2 in 1 [FW Labs]

Samsung knows about convertibles. Today brings us the new Samsung Galaxy Book 2 360, and it is impossible not to remember the Samsung Galaxy Book from 2017. Although the technology giant has had powerful touch devices in the tablet segment in recent years, nothing compares to having a 2 x 1 with Windows.

And for them it is nothing new. It was 2017 and it pointed out “it is essential to have a multifunctional product, but also powerful” in a note for Publimetro Chile. And that continues to be the dynamic in this new generation. We find a team that is literally “360”, being able to use its touch screen in different positions as needed.

But there has been an important evolution: the first generation of the Galaxy Book was more responsive to a Windows tablet, attached to a touch keyboard. Today we are flatly facing a notebook. We review its top of the range: the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360.

We start with the official Unboxing:

Small details that make the difference with this “transformer”

Let’s start with the little details that we liked. Like its predecessor, the S-Pen that comes with the device can stick to metal areas of the device, so you won’t lose it and it is very comfortable to lay on the back of the Galaxy Book 2 when working.

A not minor detail is that the keyboard is automatically deactivated, either when you are in “tent” mode (like a tent or marquee) or when you are flat in tablet mode. The computer “notifies you” when the keyboard is functional: the keyboard backlight turns on.

Compact even in its charger

His packing is light, and the team is too. But for a notebook, its charger is surprising: similar to that of a smartphone, if not the same. Carrying your gear in a case, small bag, or even a purse has never been easier.

The equipment is light, small and slim. Its measurements are 302.5 x 202 x 11.5 mm (11.91″ x 7.95″ x 0.45″), weighing only 1.04 kilo.

Small, compact and powerful

But it is powerful. The reviewed model is specifically the 13.3-inch, Intel Core i7, with 16GB of RAM, the NP930QED-KA1. Its Intel Core processor corresponds to the 12th generation, it is the Intel® Core™ i7-1260P Processor (2.1 GHz up to 4.6 GHz 18 MB L3 Cache). It also has Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics.

Its RAM memory is a super fast LPDDR5. The computer has an advanced cooling system to keep it running cool and quiet. while gliding through intense workloads.

A large keyboard and a large trackpad mean that, despite their small size, these areas are functional and very comfortable to use. Its graphite color is elegant, but unfortunately the fingerprints are very marked when handling it.

Except for a small and almost unnoticeable Samsung logo, the cover is completely black (graphite). The inside is as stylish as the outside, with a full keyboard, roomy trackpad, and large screen with slim bezels. The top bezel is approximately twice as thick as the side bezels to accommodate the integrated webcam, while the bottom bezel is about half an inch thick.

The screen: ideal for multimedia content

This specific model has a 13.3″ FHD AMOLED (1920 x 1080) screen with a touch panel. Movies and video games look fantastic. Here the “store” mode is ideal to enjoy the potential of the screen.

The AMOLED display offers a strong contrast between blacks and whites and helps colors appear more vibrant. You can test the experience by watching the latest Marvel trailers and believe me, they will look great.

Screen resolution maxes out at 1080p. Obviously 2K or 4K would have sounded better, but maybe it would have raised prices. And to be honest: the performance is going quite well. The Full HD screen is sufficient.

Connectivity: vital for a very portable laptop

This 2-in-1 has a pair of USB-C ports and a USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 port. It also has a microSD card reader and a headphone jack. The ports are located on both sides of the laptop.

We have to get used to the fact that USB-C is becoming the norm. Regarding wireless, it has Bluetooth v5.1 and Wi-Fi 6E (Gig +), 802.11 ax 2×2.

Performance: more than enough

The portability of this equipment allowed us, in this month of use, to be able to fulfill all the editorial tasks in any place and with all the necessary power that a Galaxy Book and its legacy could give us.

The Galaxy Book2 Pro is slim in design but not in performance. Thanks to its Core i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM, the laptop is powerful enough for your daily computing needs, be it work, content consumption, or both.

It may not be a powerful gaming notebook, but light games available on the Xbox Store ran smoothly. If you install a game that demands a lot of resources, it will not work. But it’s great for streaming services or light gaming.

Returning to design and functionality, there are details of its architecture to highlight. The full keyboard has plenty of room for many hours of comfortable typing. Checked and no pain in the hands.

This is achieved thanks to a well laid out keyboard. The keys provide a satisfying level of resistance, even if you’re used to mechanical keyboards. Something that draws attention in such a thin team: point in favor, they are more solid keys. than what is used in similar devices.

The touchpad is large and intuitive, as easy to use as the keyboard. It is precise: it correctly reads movements and gestures.

Multimedia: audio, webcam and more

Audio is vital in a device designed for the consumption of multimedia content. It’s good laptop audio, despite lacking deep bass. Despite that, its speakers are surprisingly loud. The highs, lows and mids are carried very well and nothing is ever confused. We insist, despite the fact that the basses fall somewhat short.

The integrated 1080p webcam in the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 is “just enough”. It works well, although its performance improves considerably when accompanied by a ring of light.

While cameras on laptops are generally not brilliant, in the wake of the pandemic and the importance of video calls, brands should consider upgrading this aspect. Especially Samsung, who has enough experience in selfie cameras on their cell phones. But again: that could drive up costs.

S-Pen and touch screen

The touchscreen is extremely responsive, whether you’re using your fingers or the included S Pen. Since Windows 11 and Samsung apps support touch, there’s plenty to do on the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360.

One aspect that could be balanced is the touch sensitivity when using the pen. If you rest your wrist on the screen to draw in the “Notes” application, you could switch to “carry” options while you are drawing (my pen changed color several times). How to avoid it? Raising the wrist when drawing, a posture issue, but It would be great if you could somehow recognize “what” is coming into contact with your computer and avoid it.

Still, the S Pen works as well as you’d expect from a digital pen. It is a solid pencil. Accurate in, for example, lettering tests.

Apps like Samsung Notes and Smart Switch sync files and photos with your other Samsung devices. If your smartphone is of the brand, the ecosystem will work very well.

Battery: How long do we have?

The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 promises with its large 68Wh battery, up to 21 hours of video playback. “And you can add up to 8.3 more hours by charging it for just 30 minutes with the compact universal USB-C charger,” they point out on their website.

Did your temperature rise after continuous video use? Taking a cue from other tech outlets, we did a heat test: stream 15 minutes of Full HD video and apply a heat gun (remote thermometer).

He did not have a “fever”. She marked 36.2 degrees Celsius at the bottom center, behind the team (highest temperature). So plus point for cooling it.

Versatility, power, comfort, performance and battery. A worthy heir to its predecessors, this team is. position. as a great alternative for those who are looking for power and mobility. In an era of “openness” after the pandemic, and with the possibility of still telecommuting from anywhere, the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 became my main companion to write FayerWayer notes.

Prices? The equipment is already available in the Samsung Chile store. The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 family starts from 599,990 Chilean pesos and up to 1,249,990 Chilean pesos. promotional and current prices until the closing of this note in its official store.

What do you think of these teams?
