Team Ninja is working on a so-called “reboot” for the series Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. The developer is said to have confirmed this during a lecture by studio head Fumihiko Yasuda.
It was Ruliweb (via VGC) who first reported the case. According to the Korean website, Yasuda ended his talk with images of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, along with the text “The future of Team Ninja – new start for popular series.”
As VGC writes, Yasuda has previously stated that he is interested in breathing new life into Ninja Gaiden. Just a few months ago, the Team Ninja boss said that he would like to let other developers try their hand at the seriesbut that in that case it had to be a studio that really suited the job.
It’s been over ten years since Ninja Gaiden got its last main feature for now – Ninja Gaiden 3. It got a good reception here at the mill.
As far as the fighting game series Dead or Alive is concerned, it hasn’t been that long since we heard anything from it. Dead or Alive 6 came out in 2019. In our review, Espen Jansen wrote that the game worked quite well, although it failed to stand out from the crowd.
According to Ruliweb, Yasuda said he plans to share information about the developer’s plans in the near future. Koei Tecmo, developer of both Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, has not commented on the matter.
